A beacon of a bygone era, the emblematic 16th century Citadel of Cascais reinvents itself to house a brand new Historic Design Pousada. After painstaking restoration of the old fortress, this project embraces a new generation of Pousadas (Viseu, Estoi, Porto), bigger units of outstanding architectural heritage merit in singular locations. Aware of the vital importance of the Citadel as a tourist landmark, this luxurious new Pousada is a reference in the cultural promotion of Cascais, not only in terms of the requalification of historic spaces as well as in the development of future strategic partnerships. The striking new Pousada is the creation of architects Gonçalo Byrne and David Sinclair while strictly committed to the goal to preserve and respect environmental sustainability, the heritage value of the site and the natural beauty of its surroundings.
